Frankie Valli is making one thing very clear: he is not ready to say goodbye just yet.
The 92-year-old Four Seasons legend was forced to personally shut down retirement chatter after his own brother, Bobby Valli, publicly announced that Frankie was stepping away from performing.
"In spite of what you might have heard, I am not retired," Frankie declared in a statement shared on Instagram Friday.
The denial came after Bobby posted an emotional tribute to his famous brother, praising his extraordinary six-decade career and telling fans that Frankie "will now retire." Bobby described him as an "icon" and "living legend," while reflecting on a career that included more than 100 million records sold and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
There was just one problem: apparently Frankie hadn't retired.
Bobby soon returned to Facebook with a striking correction.
"I apologize, I was misinformed," he wrote, adding that he had been under the impression Frankie was retiring and wished him a "speedy recovery" so he could continue his career.
The family mix-up is especially surprising because Frankie's future as a performer has already been under intense scrutiny.
In May, the "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" singer abruptly canceled the remainder of his 2026 touring schedule, explaining that he needed to take the rest of the year off to focus on his health. At the time, however, he made it sound like a pause rather than a permanent farewell.
"I'm looking forward to getting healthy and seeing you all again soon," he told fans.
His representative Victoria Varela later explained that canceling the dates altogether - rather than repeatedly postponing them - allowed ticket holders to receive refunds while Valli concentrated on getting healthy.
The singer's last performance took place Feb. 22 at the Pechanga Theater in Temecula, California. His Four Seasons farewell run, appropriately titled The Last Encores Tour, had begun in 2023 and was originally expected to continue through late 2026.
The retirement confusion also comes after several years of fan concern about Valli's health and appearance onstage. Viral performance clips in 2024 prompted the singer to publicly address speculation about his condition.
At the time, Valli insisted he intended to keep performing "as long as I am able," adding that he still loved being onstage and believed the show continued to "rock."
So despite a farewell tour, canceled dates, health concerns and even a retirement announcement from inside his own family, Frankie Valli apparently still isn't prepared to call his career finished.
For now, the message from the Four Seasons icon is unmistakable: don't write his final encore just yet.
