Greg Laurie and his wife, Cathe, say they had an unexpected opportunity to talk about Jesus with Beatles legend Ringo Starr during the drummer's 86th birthday celebration in Beverly Hills.

Cathe Laurie shared photos from Starr's annual "Peace and Love" birthday event on social media, calling it a memorable experience to meet one of music's biggest icons-and even more meaningful to speak with him about faith.

"It was fun meeting you, a living legend, BEATLE, iconic drummer, one of the Fab Four!" Cathe wrote. "The Beatles' music was and in some ways still is the soundtrack of our lives."

She added, "Having that brief conversation about Jesus with you was a blessing for Greg and me."

The celebration drew an impressive guest list that included producer T-Bone Burnett, acclaimed session drummer Jim Keltner, actor Ed Begley Jr., and Starr's wife, Barbara Bach. Starr has hosted the annual "Peace and Love" gathering for years, inviting friends and fans to celebrate his birthday with a message of unity and kindness.

Greg Laurie also reflected on the encounter, connecting the event's theme to his Christian faith.

"The theme was 'Peace and Love.' We know lasting peace and love is only found in our relationship with Jesus," Laurie said.

Cathe also shared another celebrity moment from the party, revealing that Greg met acclaimed drummer Gregg Bissonette, who expressed his appreciation for Jesus Revolution, the 2023 film based on Greg Laurie's life and ministry during the Jesus Movement.

"Gregg said he was so happy to meet Greg and told him how much he loved The Jesus Revolution movie story," she wrote. "Loved the swag bag too!"

While the Lauries did not reveal details of their conversation with Starr, the former Beatle has spoken publicly about spirituality on several occasions over the years.

In one interview, Starr described his understanding of God in simple but deeply personal terms.

"God to me, my God in my life, God is love. Pure love," he said.

Although Starr made clear that he does not identify as religious, he said he strives to live a spiritual life every day.

"I am not religious," Starr explained. "I'm trying my best on a daily basis to have a spiritual life."

He also shared his belief that life continues beyond death, saying he believes the human spirit exists apart from the body.

"Personally I believe I go somewhere," Starr said before reiterating the conviction that has become central to his outlook: "God is love. Love is love."

The encounter comes as Greg Laurie continues to use opportunities beyond the pulpit to engage celebrities and public figures with the Christian message. For fans of both the pastor and the Beatles, seeing the worlds of evangelical ministry and rock-and-roll history briefly intersect at Starr's birthday celebration made for an unexpected-and headline-worthy-moment.
