Fans hoping to see Sixpence None the Richer on the road this year will have to wait, as the beloved band has announced the cancellation of all remaining 2026 tour dates following the devastating loss of longtime bassist Justin Cary.
Cary, who had been part of the band's journey for three decades, passed away after suffering a stroke just weeks ago. His death has left the group grieving the loss of not only a bandmate but a lifelong friend.
In an emotional statement, founding members Leigh Nash and Matt Slocum shared that they are "completely heartbroken" over the untimely passing of their "bandmate, brother-in-arms, and friend for 30 years."
The band revealed that the past three years had been filled with international touring, recording new music, and reconnecting with fans around the world, making the loss even more difficult to process.
Rather than continue performing, Sixpence None the Richer says it is stepping away from the stage to mourn.
Leigh Nash also paid a deeply personal tribute to Cary, reflecting on three decades of friendship and memories.
"Hundreds of pictures. Thousands of memories, 30 years worth. Thank you, Justin. There'll never be another you, sir. No one could pack a suitcase better or make us laugh harder."
She added that while the future remains uncertain, the band's immediate focus is grieving their friend and supporting his family, especially his wife, Linda, while asking fans to keep them all in their prayers.
For many listeners, Sixpence None the Richer provided the soundtrack to a generation through timeless hits like "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes." Now, fans around the world are joining the band in mourning one of the people who helped keep that music alive behind the scenes.
