Jonathan Roumie is stepping off the set of The Chosen and onto one of the world's most prestigious stages.
The actor best known for portraying Jesus in the global hit series has teamed up with Grammy-nominated worship artist Matt Maher for a spectacular one-night-only Advent concert at New York City's iconic Carnegie Hall.
Set for Sunday, November 29, the event promises to be far more than a traditional Christmas concert. During a joint livestream announcing the news, Roumie and Maher revealed plans for an unforgettable evening featuring a full orchestra, a massive 240-voice worship choir, and the moving Christmas musical One Day, composed by acclaimed composer John Bolin.
Roumie will serve as the evening's narrator, while Maher will perform the musical's score, bringing together storytelling, worship, and orchestral music in one of America's most celebrated concert venues.
The announcement comes as Roumie is wrapping production on the highly anticipated final season of The Chosen, making the Carnegie Hall performance one of his first major public appearances following the series' conclusion.
Maher, meanwhile, continues to be one of Christian music's most respected voices. A multiple Grammy nominee and Dove Award winner, the singer-songwriter has penned modern worship classics including "Lord, I Need You," "Your Grace Is Enough," "Alive & Breathing," and "Because He Lives (Amen)," songs sung every week in churches around the world.
Fans can also expect Broadway-level talent.
Amanda Jane Cooper, currently starring as Glinda in Broadway's Wicked, will portray Mary, while The Voice alum Carlos Santiago takes on the role of Joseph, adding another layer of star power to the already impressive lineup.
For Maher, the vision behind the event is simple: begin the Advent season by celebrating the coming of Christ.
"So I think to celebrate Advent, because it's never too soon to celebrate the arrival of Jesus... why don't we do a show, like a concert?" he said during the livestream.
Roumie echoed the excitement, personally inviting fans to join them for what he described as a truly special evening.
"I think it's a great idea... what we're trying to tell you is we are doing a one-night-only concert at Carnegie Hall, Sunday, Nov. 29," he said.
Maher added that the event is designed to launch the Christmas season in a meaningful way, telling viewers, "It's going to be an incredible whole weekend experience. We would love for you to come and start the season of Advent with us."
In a unique twist, organizers are also inviting everyday worshippers to become part of the production. True North Productions is opening registration for singers with previous choral experience to join the 240-member worship choir-no formal audition required, provided participants can learn the music in advance.
Tickets for the event begin at $39.75, making the once-in-a-lifetime Carnegie Hall celebration accessible to a wide range of fans.
With The Chosen nearing its final chapter, Roumie's latest project shows his passion for sharing the story of Jesus extends well beyond television. Joined by one of Christian music's most beloved worship leaders, this Advent celebration is shaping up to be one of the biggest faith-based live events of the Christmas season.
