After generating buzz on the festival circuit and making its theatrical debut earlier this month, Power Ballad is finally heading to living rooms across America.
The feel-good music drama starring Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd will be available to rent and purchase on digital platforms beginning June 23, giving fans a chance to watch one of the year's most talked-about music-centered films from home.
Power Ballad does not yet have a streaming release set, but it will be available to rent and buy across Premium Digital and Premium Video on Demand platforms from June 23. The movie is currently available for pre-order on Blu-ray, however its confirmed release date is yet to be revealed.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker John Carney, the creative force behind beloved music-driven hits Once and Sing Street, Power Ballad pairs an unlikely duo at the center of a story about friendship, ambition, betrayal, and the complicated business of making music.
The film follows Rick, a wedding singer played by Paul Rudd, whose life takes an unexpected turn after a late-night jam session with fading boy-band star Danny, portrayed by Nick Jonas. What begins as a spontaneous musical collaboration quickly spirals into conflict when one of Rick's songs becomes a massive hit - but Rick receives none of the credit.
For Jonas, the role marks another major step in his acting career, while Rudd brings his signature charm and vulnerability to a character fighting for recognition after being overlooked for years.
Fans won't just get the movie when it arrives on digital platforms. Lionsgate is also releasing a collection of bonus features, including behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the film, an exploration of its music, a special feature spotlighting Paul Rudd, and exclusive content focused on the power of music.
While Power Ballad has not yet announced a streaming subscription home, audiences will be able to rent or purchase the film through major digital retailers including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.
The movie has already attracted attention thanks to its combination of heartfelt storytelling, infectious music, and a cast led by two fan favorites. With Jonas playing a former pop idol desperately chasing relevance and Rudd portraying an overlooked musician seeking justice, Power Ballad taps into universal themes of dreams, recognition, and second chances.
For viewers looking for an uplifting musical story packed with catchy songs and emotional twists, June 23 marks the first opportunity to bring Power Ballad home.
