If you were watching Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals Saturday night and found yourself asking who just sang the national anthem - you're not alone. Searches for Mickey Guyton spiked nationwide the moment she took the mic at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

The four-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter performed her rendition of the United States National Anthem alongside the San Antonio Firefighters Honor Guard ahead of Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.

Guyton is a country singer from Arlington, Texas - making her a natural fit for a high-stakes home game deep in the heart of the Lone Star State. With the Spurs trailing the New York Knicks 3-1, San Antonio needed every bit of energy the crowd could bring - and Guyton set the tone before the opening tip.

This was far from her first time on the biggest stage in sports. In 2022, she performed the national anthem before the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals squared off at Super Bowl LVI.

She also made history as the first Black woman to host the Academy of Country Music Awards, co-leading the broadcast alongside Keith Urban in 2021.

Her 2022 debut album, Remember Her Name, earned her four Grammy nominations total - a remarkable run for an artist who spent years being overlooked in Nashville.

But Guyton has always pointed to something beyond talent for where she stands today. "My faith in God helped me," she has said of her career success. When her breakthrough song "Black Like Me" was released, she called it simply "a God moment," adding: "He put it on my heart to write it. I thought it was to heal my heart but now I realize it's meant to heal every heart."

That faith runs through everything she makes. "Music is supposed to be hopeful," Guyton has said. "I have to get back up and find some glimpse of hope somewhere, and a lot of it happens through music."

On a night when one city was believing for a miracle and another was one win away from a championship, Mickey Guyton stood at center court and sang. For a woman who has trusted God through every open door - this one was wide open.
