As Mother's Day approaches, Anne Graham Lotz is encouraging families to have intentional conversations about faith after sharing an emotional reflection about her late mother, Ruth Bell Graham, and the lasting impact of her personal testimony.

In a heartfelt message shared online, Lotz recalled sitting across from her mother and listening as Ruth Bell Graham described the moment Jesus Christ became personally real to her life. According to Lotz, the conversation was not simply about believing in God generally, but about understanding that Christ loved and saved her personally.

"Not just God who loved the world, but God who loved her," Lotz reflected.

The evangelist explained that hearing her mother recount that experience reminded her how deeply a parent's faith can shape future generations. She described faith as a "baton" that must first be personally embraced before it can be passed on to others.

Lotz shared that Ruth Bell Graham "gripped the baton" of faith for herself before eventually passing it to her daughter. Anne later embraced Christ personally as well, eventually passing that same legacy to her own children, who also made their own independent decisions to follow Jesus.

"But I also had to grip it for myself as I claimed Jesus as my Savior," Lotz explained. "Then I've had the privilege of passing that baton of faith to my children, who made the choice to grip the baton for themselves, then pass it to others."

The message struck a chord with many believers online, especially as families prepare to celebrate mothers and grandmothers who have influenced their spiritual journeys. Lotz emphasized that spiritual legacies are often formed not through public recognition or ministry platforms, but through simple and honest conversations within the home.

"That is how a legacy is built," she shared. "Not in grand gestures. Not from a platform. But in the quiet, honest conversations between a mother and her child about the moment Christ became real."

The daughter of legendary evangelist Billy Graham, Anne Graham Lotz has long spoken publicly about the influence her parents had on her spiritual life and ministry. Ruth Bell Graham, who passed away in 2007, was widely respected for her deep prayer life, devotion to Scripture, and steadfast support of her husband's global ministry.

Lotz concluded her message by encouraging parents to intentionally share their testimonies with their children this Mother's Day, reminding believers that faith is often strengthened and sustained through personal witness within the family.
