Dr. Angela Martin, a beloved gospel radio personality, ministry leader, and 2015 Stellar Awards honoree, has passed away at the age of 62.
Known for her powerful voice and unwavering faith, Martin became a trusted presence across Chicago's gospel airwaves. She was the voice behind Sky High Praise on 106.3 WYBA, co-hosted The Gospel Morning Show on Gospel 1390, and later became a fixture on The John Hannah Morning Show on Inspiration 1390, where her warmth and spiritual insight reached thousands of listeners daily.
In 2015, Martin received the Stellar Award for Gospel Announcer of the Year-an achievement she often described as a defining moment in her career. Yet beyond accolades, her life was marked by a bold step of faith that reshaped her calling.
"I had been in corporate America for years-23 years at AT&T, 16 years in radio. But I just felt like it was time to step out on faith," she shared in past interviews. "I wanted no boundaries, no ceilings. I wanted to go as far as the Lord wanted to take me."
Following that decision, Martin founded Angela Martin Ministries, Inc., where she seamlessly blended media and ministry. Through her work, she reached audiences far beyond the airwaves, offering encouragement, prayer, and spiritual guidance.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she launched the "P.O.P.-Up" (People Online Praying Up) virtual prayer group, creating a digital space for believers to gather in faith. She also became widely known for her impactful "Onederful Prayer" meetings, which drew participants seeking renewal and breakthrough.
Dr. Martin's legacy is one of faith, courage, and service-a woman who used her voice not only to broadcast, but to uplift, inspire, and lead others closer to God.
She is remembered as a trailblazer in gospel media and a devoted servant whose influence will continue to resonate for years to come.
