Q: Petra has always been known for blending bold rock with Scripture-centered lyrics-how do you approach writing songs that are both musically powerful and theologically grounded?
When I first became a Christian I realized that now I have something to say with my music. I knew that rock music could be a powerful tool but it needed to be clearly spiritual to move people toward God. I look for inspiration from the one place that matters, God's Word.
Q: You've seen incredible success again in 2026 with multiple #1 songs-what has it meant to witness this kind of resurgence after decades in ministry?
We have always looked at our recordings as "casting our bread upon the waters". We always try to do the best we can and believe that God will take our music where it needs to be heard.
Q: Petra has influenced generations of artists and listeners-how do you view your legacy now, especially hearing how bands like Skillet and Disciple were shaped by your music?
We are so thankful that something we have done has had an influence on younger musicians. It is always amazing to us to know how God has used our music in ways we could never imagine. We thank God for bands like Skillet and Desciple!
Q: Looking ahead, what can fans expect next from Petra in terms of new music, touring, or the continued direction of the band's ministry?
We are taking things one step at a time. We plan to do everything we know to do to let people know we have a new recording, and that includes touring. We still love playing and thank God everytime we take the stage!
