Singer-songwriter Jonathan Ogden has announced his upcoming new album DAY, set for release on March 27, unveiling what he describes as his brightest and most upbeat project to date. The album follows the introspective NIGHT, forming a deliberate artistic pairing that reflects movement from darkness into light and from winter into spring.
According to Ogden, DAY represents a sonic and emotional shift from the deeply personal themes explored on NIGHT, which was created during a season marked by grief and reflection. The new collection of 12 songs is described as immediate, relatable, and full of vibrant color, capturing a renewed sense of hope and celebration.
The album was largely recorded with a band in Japan before being completed at Ogden's home studio in Manchester, blending collaborative live energy with the intimate atmosphere that has become a hallmark of his work. The project features Korean indie artist DANIEL, saxophone contributions from Sunset Rollercoaster member Hao Ting, and performances from touring collaborators Caleb Cho and GII D Music. Artwork for the release once again comes from visual artist Marine Buffard, with mastering handled by Joe Causey.
Ogden shared that the album reflects music he has long wanted to create, noting that the journey through NIGHT made DAY possible. The two projects are intentionally presented as counterparts - an artistic arc that mirrors emotional and spiritual transformation.
Both albums will also be released together as a special double gatefold vinyl edition titled NIGHT & DAY, with pre-orders now live. The physical release underscores Ogden's desire to frame the two records as a complete narrative experience.
Known to many as the former lead vocalist of the influential worship collective Rivers & Robots, Ogden has steadily cultivated a solo career that blends indie textures, jazz influences, and worship-driven songwriting. His previous album NIGHT was widely noted for its raw honesty and themes of faith, lament, and hope during hardship.
With DAY, Ogden invites listeners into a new chapter marked by brightness, color, and renewed energy - a musical sunrise after the long reflection of night.
DAY arrives March 27 on all major streaming platforms, with vinyl pre-orders available now.
