November 7 would have been Billy Graham's 107th birthday, a moment that continues to stir reflection, gratitude, and inspiration across the world. Though he went home to be with the Lord in 2018, the message that defined his life - the saving grace of Jesus Christ - continues to echo through generations, nations, and the ongoing ministry of his son, Franklin Graham.
Born on November 7, 1917, near Charlotte, North Carolina, Billy Graham became one of the most influential Christian evangelists of the twentieth century. His clear, uncompromising proclamation of the Gospel reached more than 215 million people in person and hundreds of millions more through television, radio, and print. For more than 60 years, from the great citywide crusades of London, New York, and Seoul to small towns across America, Graham's message was consistent and simple: "God loves you."
"My father would have been 107 today," Franklin Graham reflected. "I can't think of a better way to celebrate him than by preaching the same message he devoted his life to proclaiming - the Gospel. He wanted people to know that Jesus Christ shed His own blood on the Cross for our sins, died, was buried, and God raised Him to life on the third day so that we could be forgiven and have new life in Him."
This week, Franklin Graham carries that message to Buenos Aires, Argentina, preaching at the Esperanza Buenos Aires Festival - the very city where his father stood to proclaim the Gospel 34 years ago, in November 1991. Franklin, who was with his father on that earlier visit, now follows in his footsteps, inviting thousands once again to encounter the transforming power of Christ.
Billy Graham's enduring legacy is not only found in the millions who responded to his invitation but also in the countless pastors, missionaries, and believers whose lives were shaped by his witness. Through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), founded in 1950, his mission continues - bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to a world still in need of redemption and grace.
"Billy Graham's voice may be silent, but his message resounds louder than ever," said a BGEA spokesperson. "His legacy reminds us that true greatness is measured not in fame or influence, but in faithfulness to God's call."
As Franklin Graham preaches in Buenos Aires - echoing his father's footsteps and words - the life of Billy Graham remains a living testimony that the Gospel never grows old. It still saves, still heals, and still changes lives.
