“Too Sexy for Gospel?” — Jekalyn Carr Responds to Critics

Gospel powerhouse Jekalyn Carr is setting the record straight. During her recent appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast, the 28-year-old singer addressed long-standing criticism about her fashion choices - with some accusing her of being "too sexy for gospel."

Carr responded with grace and honesty, explaining that while she is always intentional about dressing appropriately and respectfully, she refuses to apologize for how God made her. "I try to dress for the occasion and honor the platform I'm on," she shared. "But there's nothing I can do to hide my natural curves. This is how God created me."

The multi-award-winning artist, who first rose to fame at just 15 with her breakout hit "Greater Is Coming," used the moment to emphasize the importance of self-acceptance, especially for women of faith. "We shouldn't confuse confidence with compromise," she said. "You can love God, serve Him fully, and still walk in boldness and beauty."

Carr's new album, LEGENDS, reflects that same message of empowerment and authenticity. Blending her signature anointed vocals with uplifting themes, the project honors the gospel greats who paved the way while encouraging a new generation to embrace their purpose unapologetically.

LEGENDS is available now on all major streaming platforms.
