Let's be Cops movie DVD Release, Reveals and Updates: Jake Johnson, Damon Wayans Junior and Keegan-Michael Key in Upcoming Comedy
The great thing about movies is that not all of them are meant to be great epic works of art that define the human experience and capture the zeitgeist; some are just meant to just be fun and a good watch for a Saturday afternoon. Let's be Cops belongs to this second category. Distributed by 20th Century Fox and produced by Wide-Awake the movie was written, directed and produced by Luke Greenfield. Best known for his 2004 film The Girl Next Door, this was the only film he worked on this year. The movie was released on 14th of August and made approximately 114 million dollars at the box office after they spent just 14 million dollars on its production. DVD sales that start on November 11th 2014 will no doubt push these profits higher.
Like all great movies, this one is about two friends. A down on his luck video game designer and a washed up college quarterback who were meant to head back to Ohio if they did not make it in LA by the time they were 30. While out on the town one night a car load of Albanians that later turn out to be mobsters hit the duos car. Justin, the video game designer, pitches a game about policemen that his bosses do not care for and his pal Ryan convinces him to use the costumes for their college reunion party. On their way home they are mistaken for real policemen and get it into their heads to get an old cruiser and act like real cops, chief on their agenda is revenge on the Albanian mobsters for hitting their car. After a series of events that make for fairly good watching Justin becomes an accomplished game developer and Ryan graduates from the Police Academy; somebody gets the girl and hey all live happily ever after.
Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Junior act opposite each other as Ryan and Justin respectively. Neither of them are strangers to comedy with Jake starring in a number of films from Get Him to the Greek to 21 Jump Street. Damon Wayans Junior is of course the son of the great Damon Wayans and is quite an accomplished comedian in his own right. Other names to look out for include Nina Dobrev, Keegan-Michael Key and Natasha Leggero.
