AC/DC New Album 2014 Completed Says Frontman Brian Johnson Titled 'Man Down' in Honor of Malcolm Young
Classic rock band AC/DC have finished up their new album according to singer Brian Johnson, even with guitarist Malcolm Young taking leave due to illness. Johnson spoke with Metalhammer, and said that the band is thinking of naming their new record, Man Down, in respects to their ill bandmate and AC/DC founder Malcolm Young.
The new album was recorded with producer Brendan O'Brien in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. "It was brilliant over there," Johnson said. "We're done. I'm very excited and we've got some great songs.
With Malcolm's illness, AC/DC brought in his nephew Stevie Young, to take Malcolm's place in the band for the recording sessions. Stevie Young played with AC/DC once before during a 1988 tour, while Malcolm stepped out to deal with his alcohol issues.
"Stevie, Malcolm's nephew, was magnificent, but when you're recording with this thing hanging over you and your work mate isn't well, it's difficult. But I'm sure he was rooting for us. He's such a strong man. He's a small guy, but he's very strong. He's proud and he's very private, so we can't say too much. But fingers crossed, he'll be back."
Johnson is hoping that AC/DC will tour again and he said it is "very likely" they will tour before the end of the year. This is the 40th anniversary of the band and there had been talks about them playing 40 shows in 40 different cities around the world in honor of the special year. No word on any specific touring plans but it sounds like Brian is ready to go if the rest of the band is and play in support of their latest album.
