Vince Staples on Upset Christian Mother in Viral Video
West Coast rapper Vince Staples song "Norf Norf" with its explicit lyrics has offended a Christian mother. The mother has release a 11-minute video of protests which has gone viral.
In the video, the mother protests, "I couldn't even believe the words as I was listening to... as a mom, it infuriated me," swears it would be the last time her daughter listened to the station, and ultimately breaks down in tears, in disbelief over how "this is what our youth is being subjected to."
Staples was asked by The Independent for his reaction to the clip. "I don't really have much to say about the video - I don't think it's funny at all," the publication quoted Staples as saying, going on to defend the woman's right to her opinion: "It's not right to attack someone over their stance, their opinions, and their religion. I think that's very immature."
His comment continued: "We already have a lot of issues between black and white relations in this country based on misunderstandings... In my eyes, she doesn't look like a racist. She doesn't look like a mean person. But it's not very responsible for people to try to take that and jump, looking for some sort of commentary on these issues [in the community]."
