Benji & Jenna Cowart Release New EP "Surrender"
Worship leaders and accomplished songwriters Benji & Jenna Cowart are proud and excited to release their new Word Worship EP, Surrender, out today, Oct. 30.
Surrender, available at iTunes and other major retailers, is the second Word Worship release for the gifted Word Publishing songsmiths, following EP Letters to the Church of Buffalo. The Franklin, Tennessee, couple draws on experiences they've had leading worship around the nation for nearly 20 years to populate the album with songs that spread the love and understanding of Jesus Christ in a modern context.
Surrender contains seven new songs, all co-written by Benji, including "Always More," "I Surrender All" and "On Their Lips." Six are aimed at the congregation. The seventh, "As I Am," is the heartwarming story of how the Cowarts adopted their daughter, Fodie (watch them tell the story). The album was produced by Dwayne Larring, an original member of Sonicflood, and includes co-writers Aaron Shust, Tony Wood, Kenna Turner West and Michael Farren.
These songs join a long list of memorable contemporary Christian cuts the Cowarts have written, releasing their own albums independently and scoring recordings by artists such as Big Daddy Weave, Meredith Andrews, The Isaacs, Selah, Ben Cantelon, Karen Peck, Aaron Shust, Josh Wilson and City Harmonic.
Benji's Gold-certified co-write "Redeemed," recorded by Big Daddy Weave, was nominated in four categories at the 2013 Dove Awards and is one of two chart-toppers for the Cowarts. Those songs gained a high profile, but the couple's probably most well-known for Benji's response to MAGIC!'s "Rude," telling "The Dad's Side of the Story." The humble homemade video for the song has drawn 16 million views on YouTube thus far.
